Nellore sheep is the tallest mutton breed of India and its home track is
Nellore and Prakasam districts of Andhra Pradesh, but widely
distributed throughout the state of Andhra Pradesh and parts of
Telangana. Three varieties are distinguished phenotypically based on
coat color as Palla (completely white), Jodipi (white with black
patches) and Dora/Brown (completely brown). Nellore Brown sheep are
predominantly present in the Rayalaseema region (Kadapa, Kurnool,
Anantapur districts) of Andhra Pradesh.
- The Nellore Brown is a hair sheep breed found in the northern Andhra Pradesh of India.
- It is distributed in Nellore, Prakasam and Ongole districts of Andhra Pradesh.
- They are tall animals with little hair except at brisket, withers and breech.
- Rams are homed ewes are polled.

- Males have average body weight of 36 kg and female have 28 kg.
